Sheffield Documentary Filmfestival, June 04—09, 2020,  Sheffield, UK will not take place in its original form due to the current COVID-19 crisis. The pitching forums, the MeetMarket and Alternate Realities Talent Market, will both proceed in June via virtual means. As part of a series of weekends throughout the Autumn,  the festival aims to present film screenings, talks, panels, artists’ events and community engagement activities. 31 Sunny Side of the Doc, June 22—25, 2020 goes digital from La Rochelle, Frankreich: CONNECTED EDITION
All delegate passes will be streamlined into a new All Access - Connected Pass.
Submission Deadline Extended  April 23, 2020
Probably the most important event worldwide for co-productions and financing of documentary film projects. The Sunny Side accepts any documentary genre and length, including series, and has also added a new media/cross platform event (PIXII). The Sunny Side is a market with presentation stands, discussion forums and pitching events. We organize a networking event at our booth, sadly not in June 2020.

4rd IDF West Lake Int. Documentary Festival, Hanzhou - China, October 17—19, 2020
IDF is an International Doc Festival organized by the China Academey of Arts. It takes place in Hanzhou, one of the allegedly most beautiful cities in China, about 1.5 hours by express train from Shanghai. It has a competition program (D20), a forum, a pitching event and a training program (IDF Academy). Strong focus on films with Chinese reference. Asian Side of the Doc, autum 2020. The Asian branch of the Sunny Side of the Doc Events. The Sunny Side Events belong to the most effective markets for international projects in the financing phase. With intensive networking opportunities, a pitching forum and sales booths for finished films. German Documentaries will be represented there with its own booth, where participating companies can hold meetings and display press material. We also organize a networking event. Asian Side of the Doc was planned for March 2020 in China. The organizers informed us, that the event unfortunately has to be postponed to autumn 2020 and the location in China has not been decided yet.

 

 

33 IDFA / Forum Amsterdam, November 18—29, 2020, Amsterdam, Niederlande.
IDFA returns to cinemas. Programm extended by limited screenings.
The most important and largest documentary film festival in the world with a renowned pitching program. Every year german documentaries organizes a big networking event during the festival.
Submission deadlines:
• May 1st, 2020 – for all films completed between August 1st, 2019 and April 30th, 2020.
• July 1st, 2020 – for all performances and interactive/immersive new media projects. 
• August 1st, 2020 – for all films completed after April 30th, 2020.

World Congress of Science and Factual Producers, December 07—10, 2020, Strasbourg, France
The very meeting place for 'Science and Factual' producers and broadcasters. Next to the SUNNY SIDE our most visited international event. It offers networking events, round-table talks and above all an excellent program with panels and workshops. It is held in a different country every year.

Guangzhou International Dokumentary Filmfestival, December 14—17, 2020, Guangzhou, China
International Documentary Film Festival for documentaries in China with lots of workshops, a pitching forum and one-to-one meetings. The film projects in the pitches, as well as the panels and workshops, are mainly related to China nowadays. We organize a networking event.
