showcasing nine german documentaries. Directors Meena Nanji and Zippy Kimundu receive a Special Mention from the jury for the documentary OUR LAND, OUR FREEDOM, about Wanjugu Kimathi’s search for the body of her father who was hanged by colonial rulers.
#MtMF24 has several competitions in which international juries hand out awards to the winning film or director. During the Movies that Matter Industry Days workshops, panel discussions, pitches of impact plans and masterclasses on film and human rights are taking place. The varied programme lets visitors travel along many themes and countries in more than 80 beautiful, exciting and touching documentaries, feature films and shorts, meeting brave activists, original filmmakers and scores of human, gripping, humorous and touching stories.
