CALL FOR SOLIDARITY Iranian filmmakers are calling their friends, colleagues, the global film industry and the press to continue supporting the Iranian people’s fight for freedom. BACK TO THE CINEMA WITH VERVE

 

 

Every autumn, FILMFEST HAMBURG attracts more than 45,000 cinema fans. Over ten days, around 130 national and international feature films and documentaries are shown on 14 screens. The programme spectrum in ten sections ranges from cineastically sophisticated art house films to innovative mainstream cinema and a colourful film and event programme for the youngest cinema-goers. FILMFEST HAMBURG presents the first productions of young German and international filmmakers as well as the films of established directors. In addition, it brings television productions to the big screen before they are broadcast on TV.
As a platform for cultural exchange and dialogue, the majority of the films are presented by the filmmakers themselves in Hamburg. Numerous events make FILMFEST HAMBURG an important meeting place for cinema enthusiasts and the film industry alike. FILMFEST HAMBURG visits the city district cinemas – with cinema enthusiasm and exciting guests, the festival can be experienced in all corners of Hamburg. From Blankenese to Winterhude to Wandsbek – from west to east, from the centre to the north, FILMFEST UMS ECK presents unique festival cinema from 1 to 7 October. The Industry Days will take place from Friday, 30 Septmeber to Friday, 7 October as part of FILMFEST HAMBURG. They are the hub for filmmakers and industry professionals to make contacts, exchange ideas and get inspired.

Sunny Side of the Doc Prize handed out at E-Meeting Point Vilnius 2021

E-Meeting Point Vilnius closed with an Awards Ceremony gathering more than 20 selected debut films from late development to post-production presented in the Work in Progress pitching session Coming Soon. Project’s holders had the opportunity to pitch their project & set individual meetings with a large audience of decision makers. Aurora’s Sunrise - a documentary animated film featuring a teenage girl’s dream to become a Hollywood star after surviving a genocide – wins two online passes for #SSD21 and will have the chance to be part of the Rough Cut – Central & Eastern Europe selection.

Patrizia Mancini: "Creating a perfect harmony between a gorgeous animation, intertwined with Hollywood and historical archives, the director Inna Sahakyan, delicately sketches the life and odyssey of Aurora, from Turkey to Hollywood, telling the story of the Armenian genocide. When #StorytellingMatters means to not forget our history and how important is to keep the memory and the legacy which comes with it. A new 'Valzer with Bashir' through the look of a talented woman filmmaker telling the story of a great woman”.
