    Synopsis

    When the pianist Kyra Steckeweh realised that her repertoire was almost exclusively composed by men, she began searching for pieces written by female composers. Together with filmmaker Tim van Beveren, she commences a quest for information which leads them to France, Italy, Poland and Germany. 
    Their research brought to light remarkable piano pieces previously buried in history and rarely performed. They also seek to look "behind the notes". The film highlights the historical and personal circumstances under which four remarkable women created their works in the 19th and early 20th centuries: Mel Bonis, Lili Boulanger, Fanny Hensel and Emilie Mayer. At the piano Steckeweh revives the music, some pieces even for the first time ever...
