    Synopsis

The singer Tatiana and the dancer Ligia belong to the generation of young Nicaraguans, who are sent to study in Eastern Europe after the Sandinist Revolution in 1979. Dreaming that they will contribute to the cultural development their country one day, they set out for Berlin and Kiev. But when they return in the early 90s, after a decade of civil war and a failed revolution, their future in Nicaragua is more than uncertain. Canto y Danza is an intimate portrait of two strong and extraordinary women, giving insights into their past and present on both sides of the Atlantic. With the singing and the dancing of the protagonists, with close observations and archive footage the film tells a story about lost dreams, the life abroad and the nostalgia for a country, that never existed.
