With a company name based on a Max Ernst painting (and a nod to Greek mythology), Sabine Pollmeier and Joachim Haupt established Parnass Film in Munich. With a passion for arts and culture and a strong focus on history and society, Parnass Film produces documentaries, series, biographies and magazines. The company’s output includes films about the American scientist Carl Djerassi who invented “the pill” (CARL DJERASSI – MY LIFE). For PEPPERS AND NUDES they travelled through the American Southwest following in the footsteps of the legendary photographer Edward Weston. And they went UP TO THE SKY to present the most outstanding skyscrapers of the 21st century, meeting architects like Norman Foster, Santiago Calatrava and Jean Nouvel.
Without losing its distinctive flavour, Parnass Films produces regulary for ARTE editions of the culture programme METROPOLIS. The last few years have seen Parnass Film riding a new creative wave, looking for new talent and going for international co-productions.
