Synopsis
The white raven is a documentary about the holocaust and concentration camp survivor Max Mannheimer, 89, born in Tchechoslovakia and now living in Munich. It’s a very personal and intimate portrait of a charming, intelligent and funny fighter against antidemocratic tendencies. Still today, at the age of almost 90, he is going into schools to tell his life and witness the time of nazi regency. He is busy six days the week. I met him in 1988, when I lost my bank card and he found it. I was a filmstudent by that time and I made two films inspired by him. In 1991 we travelled to Auschwitz, it was his first visit there since he had left the camp in 43. THE WHITE RAVEN is the third film. I accompanied Max Mannheimer throughout the year 2008, did most of the camerawork, and the film shows his daily life. Parts of the film are consisting of the old material 16mm in Auschwitz. original German version with English subtitles available Carolin Otto Landwehrstr. 55 80336 Munich, Germany tel.: +49 (0) 89-59947657
