    Synopsis

The ‘Tree Workers Case’ is the biggest case of labor exploitation in Europe to be exposed in the last twenty years. At least 2,000 workers mainly from Vietnam, but also from Romania, the Ukraine, Mongolia and Slovakia became victims of fraud and exploitation in the national forests of the Czech Republic. More than 150 witnesses can testify the fact. One of them is Mr. Long from Vietnam, who has been living in the Czech Republic for the last three years. It's always the same names and dubious employment agencies that keep surfacing in this case. These agencies are working on sublease for one of the biggest Czech forestry company, Less & Forest, which, again, had been hired by the national forest authority Lesy CR. Police, federal ministries and other national authorities consider themselves incompetent, remain passive. Therefore, these agencies still continue with their fraudulent practice. However, a group of people - lawyers, human rights activists, members of NGOs and journalists - have joined forces to investigate this case of trafficking in human beings for labour exploitation - in order to put those responsible on trial, and to have the workers compensated. They fight for more justice in their country in the middle of Europe, just a few kilometers from the German border. This film documents their struggle.
