Synopsis
“Die Treibende Kraft” (The Driving Force) is a portrait of visual artist Angelika Nain, who combines artistic work with socio-political and humanistic engagement. She has been caring for refugees for many years, has dealt intensively with colonialism/post-colonialism, and at the turn of 2019, she and her partner were part of the crew on a sea rescue ship between Libya and Italy. At the same time, in terms of her precarious financial situation, she is representative of the vast majority of visual artists in Germany.
