Synopsis
The film Sunny Land is an essayistic time travel through the entertainment paradise Sun City duringapartheid and post-apartheid beyond the bright light of stars and glamour.Instead the focus lies also on the mundane details of this non-place: on pools, carpets and palm treesto show slightly out of place clichés and at the same time to search for ways of remembrance of theevents, which took place here - seemingly in the shadow of history. Sunny Land is located on the axisof time between past and present, thereby additionally purveying insides into the life in the city ofJohannesburg, which seems to modify the idea of a protected Sun City lifestyle.
