Synopsis
Right-wing extremist parties and positions are gaining strength throughout Europe. This is particularly noticeable in rural areas of eastern Germany and reminds observers unpleasantly of the early days of the so-called baseball bat years in the 1990s. This is precisely why associations and institutions are trying to defend left-wing and democratic positions in precisely these areas despite the resistance. For one summer, the film accompanies three protagonists in their work in the small Saxon town of Wurzen and tells an up-close and authentic story of efforts to defend democracy, small East German towns and the relevance of civil society engagement.
