The Village
THE VILLAGE describes a german place in near Holland, which is full of extraordinary people from different countries, religions and cultures. Germany talks about Integration, but the christians and the muslims in this place - most of them are former miners - don’t talk about that, they live integration since many years and generations without being aware of it. THE VILLAGE is like a social bubble. A lonely island in the midst of Ruhr area, it seems as it time has come to blow in this impressive place. But the end of hard coal mining floats over like a Damocles sword and it shows that it was the work in the mine which has connected the cultures with one another. Muslims and Christians at this place belong together, they are part of German history. They are an inseparable part of the village. But without employment at the end of the German hard coal mining industry 2018, the social bubble is threatening to burst.
