Observations of a man who has always gone his own way in music and art: Peter Brötzmann. He's been on the road for more than 50 years, is described as mad by some and as the "Godfather of free jazz" by others. His improvisational musical horizon ranges from violent outbursts and delicate, dreamy fantasies, on saxophone, clarinet and tarogato, or Turkish pipe. Roughcut Peter Broetzmann (A Jazz-Odyssey, from Wuppertal to China) accompanies the musician to concerts in Hamburg, Warsaw, London, Remscheid, New York, San Francisco and Shenzhen – and visits him at home in his little garden house in Wuppertal. A quiet, thoughtful artist. (FilmFest Hamburg #FFHH14)
