Synopsis
Jazz is hip! Even young people are enthusiastic about swinging rhythms and jazzy grooves. Yet very few people know anything about the background of this music. What is jazz actually? How did this music come to Germany? And why was it opposed by the Nazis? This film sets out in search of answers and accompanies a group of young jazz musicians who intensively explore the roots of their music. In addition, there are fascinating concert excerpts and interviews with important and, for the most part, long-dead legends of German jazz.Anchored in the present and driven by questions, JAZZ FEVER is a search for traces that is diversified by combining concerts and rehearsals, interviews and archive material in a varied, smart and dramaturgically sensible way. A road movie through the history of German Jazz.
