Synopsis
The goalkeeper: schizophrenic, the forward: psychotic, the defender: depressive. Stefan’s football team is in crisis. Some Saturdays only Denis makes it to the training. Which means none of the other fourteen players has overcome the paralysing effect of his medication or illness.Bad timing. Stefan has just invited fifteen teams from all over Europe to Munich: to the 20th International Tournament of Psychiatric Football. For one year we are following the weekly struggle between forward Alex and his psychologist. We are present when defender Peyman has to relearn how to fold socks while badly wanting to participate in the tournament. And we listen to Manfred and Denis discussing what to tell or not to tell their psychiatrist. Football Mad – an insight into a strange world that sometimes seems strangely familiar.
