In 1937 the Nazis used one of his early sculptures for the catalogue cover of their propaganda exhibition 'Degenerate Art.' Otto Freundlich, a German sculptor, wanted to build streets of sculptures running through Europe symbolizing his Utopian vision of a World Society. The Nazis murdered him in 1943. His Idea is still alive. Leo Kornbrust took on this legacy and, together with several colleagues, has worked for the last forty years on the 'Road of Peace' project: a homage to Otto Freundlich. K
