Synopsis
Esref Armagan is a Turkish painter who has been blind since birth. Esref has never been able to see. But: His paintings are amazingly realistic, incorporating colour, and great detail. And the most fascinating ability: He uses perspectives! Even a lot of seeing people are not able to do. Prof. Kennedy from Toronto University, who works since 35 Years with blind people, cried as he saw this. Harvard neurologist Alvaro Pascual-Leone scanned Armagan's brain in an MRI. He saw a little sensation: "You can say Esref sees with his fingers". Filmmaker Savas Ceviz looked over the shoulder of the blind painter while he is working on his paintings in his studio. Esref shows his techniques and secrets of painting and drawing. He tells about how it came that a painting of him is in the MOMA, why he has got a thank you letter from the white house, from Bill Clinton and how he kidnapped his wife, who is blind, too. Esref has had exhibits in many cities in Turkey, Italy, New York, China, etc. 90min or 30min | DigiBeta | BetaSP | 16:9 original Turkish/English/German version with English subtitles, German or Turkish voice over available Production: MusOna Filmproduktion Savas Ceviz Danckelmannstr. 52 14059 Berlin, Germany tel.: +49 (0) 30-32102096 musonafilm@t-online.de
