    Synopsis

October 2002, out of the series LOST IN THE FIFTIES

HEMSBY#29 was my very first Rock'n'Roll weekend[er] and
LAST WEEKEND I MISSED YOU is possibly the first portrait of this scene at all. Because in this film the people in the audience - and not only the bandmembers - are the stars. All the cats strollin' around in that area treated me nice from the very beginning. Like findin' the right bus from the train station in Great Yarmouth to Pontins in Hemsby the authetic 50's site with the help of original Rockin' Rebels from London. How to make a quiff. Big Daddy's "The weekender's broadcaster" very private answer of the question "What's the difference of a Rockabilly and a Teddyboy?" Mick screwin' his Oldsmobile right in front of my window, while neighbours [The Planet Poppers] rehearsal. The lady gettin' a tattoo. Dance contest. Gals strollin'. Squeezd in the backseat in Mick's Oldsmobile testin' the gears - but the transmission not gears up to the top gear - so just a short ride.
The Hemsby House Band backin' the singers of the song contest a.o. Shane, Mick's friend. Talk with Emma - a gal livin' Rockabilly lifestyle. The Edsels can't find the song "Rama Lama Ding Dong" but they do some of the others which followed their success in 1961 by other Doo-Wop groups. THE ESSOS was their name in the first place - but was changed, because ridin' a Ford Edsel ...
RESTLESS reckin' report, because unfortunally I missed the concert rumble.
Ahh - now You are also askin':
