Synopsis
Tilo Koch (48), filmmaker, receives the order to accompany a German painter and artist (Marian Kretschmer) during his work with children in the province of Karagwe in Tanzania. With him, the Swahili-translator and asylum consultant Melanie Bumberger from Upper Bavaria joins the project. The arduous journey is overshadowed by a serious accident, as a result of which Tilo Koch requires to undergo multiple operations in a jungle hospital. Nevertheless, there is a way to continue shooting the film. The astonishing realization: development assistance can really work out. The social project Mavuno, which is supported by a German association called Marafiki wa Afrika, is doing a great job in the region. 700 wells were built, circle economy and permaculture are realised without the support of fertilizer companies. The farmers are also accompanied socially. Children and orphans are given a real perspective and pupils are given the chance to study at the university.
