Andreas Reiner looks where others look away, photographs the faces of the bereaved, people with disabilities or women who have given birth to star children. Reiner has a sense for outsiders and outcasts because he feels himself to be one. The film follows the exceptional photographer in his work and shows his frugal life. A journey into the heart of the darkness of his past, but at the same time a hymn to human existence. Reiner's photographic borderline experiences are often provocative, generate fertile anger, but testify just as much to a fierce lust for life.
