I've followed the Invitation to be a Guerrilla Girl for one day!
Synopsis
At the End of May 2000 I've got an eMail from the Faces-Mailinglist with the invitation to be a Guerrilla Girl for one day. Fortunally I was in NYC at that time. So I decided to join them. When I arrived at the St. Patrick's Cathedral that very afternoon the ProArtCheerleaders already had joined the GUERRILLA GIRLS - and that's what I still wounder - just to demonstrate or cheerful celebrate Eartha Kitt's nomination for Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical.

Funny things happened during this demonstration - and at the end it turned out as a great street-performance.

When we arrived in front of RADIO CITY the police sent us back - about 60inches - and forced the GUERRILLA GIRLS and ProArtCheerleaders into a certeian area - and put barriers around them - not just in the front - as along the rest of the street.
The GUERRILLAS IN THE CAGE environment forced just passing by people to stop exactly there where the flyer were distributed and during their stop the pedestrians started to talk with the GUERRILLA GIRLS, which was definatly not in the interest of the police - who had installed this.
And even better - the arriving cars with the celebrities stopped exactly in front of the cage. So the protesting group got the best possible position for celebrating the arriving women, because the strategy was to cheer the female nominies - and stay quiet, when male nominies arrive.

By the way, even after I've got identified - showing my international Press-ID to the police forces - I was considered to be a GUERRILLA GIRL and not allowed to move around like other journalists. So sorry - no pictures from another point of view or even short interview with Eartha Kitt.
