In einem vergessenen Festsaal der Stadt Basel fiebert eine Theatertruppe der Premiere von Shakespeares Drama „Romeo & Julia“ entgegen. Es sind Hausfrauen, BühnenschauspielerInnen, Asylbewerber, SchülerInnen und Musiker aus 12 verschiedenen Ländern, die es sich zur Aufgabe gemacht haben Shakespeares Sprache und Humor mit ihrem transkulturellen Alltagsbeobachtungen zu verquicken. Völlig unverblümte Interviews und Statements verbinden sich kaleidoskopartig mit absurden Probensituationen und der Inszenierung. Die Protagonisten gewinnen die Zuschauer durch ihre Leidenschaft und absolute Authentizität , dabei bringen sie Shakespeare der gesellschaftlichen Realität näher als es der Meister wahrscheinlich je erahnte.
