Portrait eines Hauses ohne tragende Wände. Eine kühne Kuppel aus Beton, ein Open Space - gelegen inmitten bizarrer Felsformationen einer schroffen Küste aus rötlichem Gestein. Das Haus gehörte der Schauspielerin Monica Vitti und dem Regisseur Michelangelo Antonioni. Die Leere der »Cupola« und die Verlassenheit des Ortes werden zum Ausgangspunkt für Spekulationen – hier hat Antonioni unter anderem das Drehbuch zu »Zabriskie Point« geschrieben. Scheinbar zufällig geraten Figuren ins Bild und betreten die Kuppel, über dessen Form noch heute die Utopie eines alternativen Wohn- und Lebenskonzept schwebt.
